The Old Kingdom
In chapter 3 countless forefathers note events that occurred during the Old Kingdom. The Old Kingdom includes four dynasties. The Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Dynasties. The Third Dynasty of Egypt was -from 2670-2613 BCE. The king at this time was King Djoser. There has been debates on the founder and ruler throughout The Old Kingdom. Challenges have been discussed if a king named King Sanakht ruled and founded the kingdom. What makes this a difficult topic is the lack of evidence that hasn’t been discovered about Sanakht and time period. Therefore, King Djoser has been identified as the king. While King Djoser ruled many outstanding projects were built under his rule. The first pyramid was designed by King Djoser and is named The Step Pyramid. The model of The Step Pyramid was designed in the 27th century and is a large stone design made of limestone. This building was built by Imhotep for a tomb for Pharaoh Djoser. After 20 years of ruling, Djoser’s son, Sekhemkhet, served after his father. From there, Khaba and Huni, the last king of The Third Dynasty. The next dynasty is The Fourth Dynasty, also known as The Golden Age and lasted from 2613 to 2494 BC. It was called the Golden Age because territory was extended from “ancient Libya in the west to the Sinai Peninsula in the east, to Nubia in the south” wika, and was advanced in their government system, and new architecture was being built. The king at the time was King Sneferu. Some noteworthy actions he was a part of was the formation of the Mastaba, “ a styled step pyramids to the smooth sided “true” pyramids” wika He was the creator of the Red Pyramid, Bent Pyramid, and the Pyramid at Meidum. After King Sneferu, five other kings ruled The Fourth Dynasty leading us into The Fifth Dynasty. The Fifth century was between the 25th century until the 24th century BC, which is approximately 150 years. During this long time period nine pharos rules The Fifth Dynasty. They are Userkaf, Sahure, Neferirkare Kakai, Neferefre, Shepseskare, Nyuserre Ini, Menkauhor Kaiu, Djedkare Isesi, and Unas. The only take away from this era was the God Ra was introduced. Finally, we have The Sixth Dynasty of The Old Kingdom. In this time period the kingdom lasted from 2345-2181 BC and more pyramids were made. There were also seven rulers within this time named Teti, Userkare, Pepi I, Merenre I, Pep III, Merenre II, and Nitocris.
