              Architecture

In chapter 2 my ancestors reveal details about their experience after visiting the pyramids and temples in Egypt while on merchant voyage. During the journeys my family went on while trading they came across the pyramids. They describe it as beautiful, extraordinary, and unique. Egyptian pyramids have an average height of  481ft. and the average length being 756 ft. The pyramids were mostly made of limestone and were all built on the west side of the Nile River. In order for the Egyptians to construct the pyramids they used mathematics and astronomy to build each pyramid. My ancestors had the opportunity to visit The Great Pyramid at Giza. The Great Pyramid at Giza is one of Egypt’s proudest pyramids created because it is the largest pyramid in all Egypt. The pyramid covered 13 acres of land and was built by Khufu approximately in 2550-2490 B.C. Pyramids were built with accuracy and appreciation because the purpose of pyramids was to be tombs for the Egyptian pharaohs and queens. Inside the tombs there were jewels and multiple coffins in one another to protect the body of the pharaoh. One popular tomb was for Pharaoh Tutankhamen. He was buried in a golden coffin and a golden mask of his face was also buried with him. Since Pharaoh  Tutankhamen was a good leader, he became the most famous pharaoh. That’s why his tomb was designed differently from others. Another remarkable design put together were Egyptian temples. The Egyptians established two types of pyramids. One of the temples were dedicated towards the gods and goddesses that they believed in, and the other was dedicated towards the pharaohs that were diseased that were worshiped as a God. As we can see from the chapter, Egyptians respected and valued their leaders.
